Who knew September would get here so quickly???
Just like that, August is gone... weird.
Well, my ordination exams are now behind me (hopefully forever) and its now time to get ready for the next thing. I will be moving next Saturday (short time in Austin) to Oklahoma for the fall. I begin preaching next Sunday (the 7th) and will be doing that up until Christmas eve. I will be getting an e-mail out soon to some of you with new contact info.
School stuff is getting underway for my classmates this coming week as well and they just completed orientation for the new class, someone said there's 51 of them. I have met a handful of them so far, and so far, they seem pretty cool. I will miss watching the new juniors navigate through their first semester. But that's life.
I am getting ready to go kayaking with one of my friends and trying to do some of the stuff that I enjoy about Austin while I have the time to do so. That, and hanging out with friends, and packing is what these next few days are about.

sorry for the delay
Hi all-
sorry for the delay in updating, many reasons for that. First off, I had some traveling to do. 1,550 miles to be more accurate as my mother and I journeyed to Austin, TX via NC-TN-ARK-TX route and stopped in Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock, Hot Springs and Texarkana on our way here. Then I had these Ordination Exams to attend to, of which I have completed three of the four so far. The last one is take-home test on Biblical Exegesis. So, I probably won't be updating (or surfacing much) until I have finished it. Oh, and I don't have Internet in my apartment any more. Since I am leaving again in two weeks, it seems kind of ridiculous to pay for it. I can use the labs at school (which is what I am doing right now) and that will have to suffice for the time being.
So that's the latest from Austin. I hope your lives are a little less busy and doing well.

On the Road Again
Hi all-
Quick update before I hit the road for Texas...
Finished up my CPE on Thursday (and there was much rejoicing)- glad for the experience, and also, glad to be done with the experience.
Talked with my school on Friday, have figured out where I will be spending this fall (in OK like planned, only in a different role- as the designated pastor for the three churches-)
I also got a chance to catch up with a couple of friends in the NC wind-down.
This morning, we (my mom and i) are heading to Nashville, TN. Tomorrow we are on to Memphis and then on Tuesday on to Arkansas to see Little Rock and Hot Springs- most likely spending the night in Texarkana and then, finally, on to Austin on Wednesday. Ords on Fri and Sat next week....
The end of the summer whirlwind is here.

the unknown
Earlier week a tragic event occurred in Oklahoma which has a direct effect on me. The pastor of the church that I was to serve as intern at this fall died suddenly. And while I grieve with his family and his church and his community for their loss, it has left me with a lot of questions about my immediate future.
For instance, this has been my plan for the next year: Fall internship (after hopefully passing ords, or at least taking them for the first time in 3 weeks) followed by a two week break in NC for Christmas then a Jan term class, followed by another break, of which time I hope to begin (with my CPM's permission of course) really searching for /discerning a call, then to be followed by the perfect semester of classes.
Now, in order to graduate, I have to have an SPM. Since, it is most likely the one I had planned on has dissipated (nor am I anxious to go there under these circumstances if they still want me to come) that means I have to find another internship. I am not registered for classes at seminary, my mail is already set to be sent to OK and I really don't like the set-up of the teaching church's calendar- in that, I most likely won't be able to go home for Christmas and have some time off otherwise. But, I will do what I have to do in order to graduate.
Therefore, right now, I can not tell you what my future looks like, I can not tell you where I will be living in one month. And that's a little unnerving.
My SPM director is hopeful that things will work out. I am optimistic too. I just don't know what shape this "working out" will take.
Other than that, I have one week left at WakeMed. That is exciting to me. And tonight, I get to see the 2 Skinnee J's in concert which is going to be pretty awesome, so all in all, life's not too bad.

Monday, Monday
Hello all-
Another Monday is upon us... I remember the days when I used to look forward to Monday (when I worked in the church and Mondays meant days off of course), those were nice days. My time in NC is beginning to wind down, I am in the 10th week of my CPE unit (with one more to go including a 24 on-call stay at the hospital this Saturday!) and I have now preached 3 sermons at 3 different churches 3 weeks in a row. And, I gave a presentation after church yesterday about my trip to Indonesia and now, I am exhausted. But there is still much to do, esp. when it comes to study preparation for the fast approaching Ords- which studying is not something I like to do- not to mention that I still need to get in 20 hours of clinical time outside of my upcoming on-call- which wouldn't be that bad if it weren't for all the meetings and classes they have us going to, not that I am complaining. I am just tired and ready for a break.
Well, that's about it I think. I am going to see "Step-Brothers" tonight, so hopefully that will be fun, and then ironically, I will actually be seeing my step-brother on Sunday for the first time in a couple of years which really should be fun seeing him and his son (and my dad and his wife).
